LSAT Tips & Help Center

Research LSAT testing locations before registering for the LSAT

  • Where you take the LSAT is an important factor in scoring high on the LSAT that is frequently overlooked.
  • Check out our LSAT Test Site Reviews & Ratings system that we have made to help test takers find the best LSAT testing site.

Start studying at least three months before your test date.

  • You can never prepare for the LSAT too much. Studying two months in advance will let you study a little bit each day, versus cramming a few weeks before the test and becoming overwhelmed.
  • LSAT Blog has several LSAT study schedules you can use for your preparation.

Take many full-length practice tests

  • What many students do not realize is that the LSAT is a 3.5 hour test of stamina.
  • Practicing only single sections will give you a false sense of security. You must become completely comfortable with taking another 35 minute section immediately after finishing the previous one.

Proctor your practice tests

  • Use the SimuGator: LSAT Edition DVD to simulate real testing conditions.
  • On the real test you will not be able to take a break between sections, so do not do so on practice tests.

Strictly time yourself on practice tests

  • With only 35 minutes for each section, you must learn to master how to quickly move through the questions while maintaining accuracy.
  • The SimuGator: LSAT Edition DVD will help you develop your pacing skills.

Become completely comfortable with your analog wrist watch

  • Since timing and self-pacing is so important to the LSAT, you should be practicing with the same analog watch you will be using on the real test.
  • The SimuGator: Analog LSAT Watch meets LSAC guidelines for timing devices and makes timing yourself remarkably easy.

Take your practice tests when you will be taking your real test

  • If your test is at 9:00 AM, then get in the habit of waking up early and taking your practice test at this time.

Understand every question you get wrong

  • Since the LSAT is a test of technique and strategy, you must understand why you got a particular question wrong so you do not get a similar future questions wrong.

Become familiar with your testing location so you can get there 30 minutes early on test day

  • On test day, you will most likely already be extremely stressed out, and the last thing you want to do is have to rush to your testing center.
  • If you are not familiar with your testing center, find out where it is and how to get there. If possible, visit it the day before the test.
  • If your testing center is far away, it might benefit you to get a hotel/motel room close to the testing center in order to avoid traffic, getting lost, or getting there late.
